This art piece reflects the transition from summer to fall. When the sunshine and light start to fade, we begin the winter hibernation phase. Apticus is the Latin term for abstention- I see it as a change of outdoor activities- from summer fun to winter sports.

Lory has explored many approaches to art making throughout her lifetime of painting and creating crafts. Recently, she has combined her skills and experience as a painter and craft artist to develop an exciting new series of paintings. The collection consists of 300 images produced from a set of drawings depicting imaginary worlds, trees, landscapes, flora, fauna, and creatures. The completed original pieces in the collection range in size from 12”x16” to 48”x60”. THE PROCESS These paintings draw upon skills that include: painting, sewing, jewelry making, decorating, paper mache sculpting, doll making, and hand painting glassware.
